The Good Old Days

It's Always the Good Old Days

A lot of people get nostalgic about the past. They all like to talk about the good old days. They reminiscent about times when life was more carefree and simple. There was no stress and times where easy. They'll vividly recall certain memories that bring them great joy. Heck, even when times where tough, people still talk about those days with a certain fondness. I've met a few veterans that speak proudly of the camaradarie they shared with their fellow soldiers in a high stress and extreme conflict environment. Not that I encourage anyone to throw themselves into such environments (they wouldn't either). I'm just making a point about how everyone likes to drive down nostalgia lane.

Someone once even wished that they could know that they where in the good old days as they are living them. That may not be possible since nostalgia trips depend on you being able to look back at events that already occurred. However, that may not be necessary as long as you understand that you are always living in the good old days.

Allow me reflect on my memories. I enjoyed the years I spent in middle school. We didn't do much aside from play Starcraft, Yu-Gi-Oh and beat each other up in the hallways. Those where the good old days. In my early college years, I played in a few bands and even played in a few live shows. Those where the good old days. The time I spent studying in Utah for my Master's degree was fun, too. All I did was study math and ride bikes with my buddy. On my very last day there, he even told me "some day, you will look back at your time at USU and tell your self those where the days! All I did was math and ride bikes!'". He was right.

That was over a decade ago. It's hard to believe so much time has gone by. That's how life goes and that's okay. I am currently living in the good old days right now. I have never been to so many concerts in my life. I am credited for guitar on two albums and working on a third. There is absolutely no doubt that in the future, I will look back at my time now and tell myself "Man, I remember going to all those concerts and jamming out all the time to create music! Those where the good old days!"

That's what I'm here to tell you. I'm here to tell you that the good old days are now. You are currently living in the good old days. Even if you are at the end of your life, you are still living in the good old days. You may not live long enough to recollect them yourself, but if somebody, loves you, they will recollect the special time they spent with you and will never forget it. So go out there and continue living those good old days.
