Lyde - Resurgance

Lyde - Resurgance

There's only one thing that bothers me about Lyde. The majority of his releases are short EP style albums. Resurgance here only contains three songs. I kind of wish he would save his songs and compile them into a much longer and larger album. I think I find this annoying only because I grew up in the era of CDs that contained full length albums. Now we live in the era of digital audio and playlists. It's not necessary to release full length albums anymore. Really, these short bursts of music is accomodating to people's ever decreasing attention spans. Less songs but more frequent releases allows such people to digest the music easier. Besides, this is a perfect example of quality over quantity.

Too many artists release full length albums with a bunch of filler songs just to pad the running time. You will never experience such a dip in quality with Lyde in large part because the albums only contain a few songs. The caliber of these songs is enormous. It's large enough to eclipse millions of other lesser albums through pure quality alone. Each song here is a cocktail of rythm and melody that combine to form emotions that are most delicate, to others that are most ferocious. The same way drum beats, arpeggios, and melodies pour out of the speakers mimics the way the emotions that they are trying to express pour out from the heart and soul. All of Lyde's music is like that. Which is why he is one of my absolute favorites. Resurgence is yet another batch of songs that stregnthens his ranking atop the synthwave mountain by balancing serene melodies with powerful rythms in the most wonderful way possible.

If you are not listening to Lyde, then you're a loser. Plain and simple. Before I first listened to the Lyde, I was a complete loser. Then I heard the song "Deviant" off of Lawless in some YouTube streaming station, and I instantly became a winner. I turned from a wimpy hundred pound nerd into a 220 pound hulking mass of muscle in a matter of minutes. This is not joke, hyperbole, or an exaggeration. If you don't believe, you can go to hell. Now go listen to Lyde. Loser.
