Synthwave 2023

Image
Synthwave 2023 Another exciting year is in the books. I will now highlight some of my favorite releases from this year. A synthwave highlight for me this year was getting to see Midnight Danger perform live just in time for Halloween. I've been to a few synthwave shows before and they where fun. But, I've never been to a popular artist show. Midnight Danger absolutely rocked the place. Anyways, every album on this list is perfectly capable of rocking the place. Mega Drive - 200X I'm always eagerly awaiting a Mega Drive music release. I truly feel he or she can do no wrong. My favorite album is still Sequencer, but this may very well be a close second. I'm convinced that it surprasses both 198X and 199X and narrowly edges out Neuroframe. Neuromancer - Hardwired This is nothing short of incredible. It's like Neuromancer took parts from all of your favorite darksynth masters, mixed them all t...

Songs That Take Me Back

Image
Take Me Back We all get nostalgic from time to time. Although, I think my age cohort, the millenials, seem to be afflicted with it the most. Maybe it's just me. Or perhaps it is just simply documented more than any other generation. At any rate, it's time for me to take a trip down nostalgia lane. It's been awhile. Lately I've been listening to songs that would often play on the radio or appear on The Box (that's the poor man's MTV) when I was a kid. Every time I listen to them, it sparks memories and emotions that simply take me back to my childhood. There's alot. I'll try to cover as much as I can remember and without being overbearing. Pras with ODB &amp Mya - Ghetto Superstar This song is one of those one hit wonders and an excellent one. This takes me to the old house garage where I was hanging out with an old friend of mine. This song happened to be playing on the radio at that momen...

Early Y2K Movies

Image
Early Y2K Movies I already established that early Y2K, or even pre-Y2K if you prefer, is from 1995 to the end of 1997. I'm not making a rigid case. I'm selecting this timeframe as early Y2K because we can see the obsession with tech, edgy attitudes, and future consciousness began its escalation. I already discussed this when it comes to 3D graphics and video games. It's time to review a few movies that where also tech, edgy, and future obssessed. The list is practically endless. So, I'm only going to focus on movies I have seen, even if I viewed them long after Y2K. Some of these I did grow up with, though. Bear in mind that I am focusing on a very narrow subset of movies in this window of time. So, something like Independence Day or Men in Black are out because they are more about an alien invasion than they are about technology. I will definitely be discussing those in another article. Tech Obsessed Tech...
